Door Closure Lock (DCL)
The Door Closure Lock is an essential safety device for pigging operations in pipelines to ensure that the pigging vessel (shell) door remains securely closed during operation and can only be opened when the vessel is fully depressurized and drained. This lock system is crucial for preventing accidents that could occur if the pig launcher or receiver door is opened while still under pressure.

Specifications
Models: Available in Two Models: Door Closure Static (DCS) and Door Closure Movable (DCM)
Operation:
- Hazard Prevention: The greatest hazard in pigging operations is the accidental opening of the launcher/receiver while under pressure. The Door Closure Lock ensures the vessel is fully depressurized before the door can be opened.
- Interlocking Mechanism: The lock prevents the bleed bolt from being removed and the door from being opened. A dedicated key is required to access and remove the bleed bolt. This key can only be released after the door is closed and the bleed bolt is back in position.
- Sequential Operation: The PEPL Door Closure Lock ensures that all relevant valves (pig trap valves, drain, vent and kicker line valves) are operated in the correct predefined sequence to maintain safety.
- Key Transfer System: PEPL’s key transfer interlocking system ensures the entire pigging process is controlled safely eliminating human error by enforcing a predetermined safe sequence of operations.
The Door Closure Lock provides a reliable and safe solution for controlling pig launching and receiving operations and ensures that the vessel is depressurized before opening the closure doors. By integrating interlocks with all relevant valves and doors the system enforces a logical safe sequence of operations by significantly reducing the risk of human error.
