MOV Interlocks - Interlocks on Motor Operated Valves (MOV)
Motor Operated Valves (MOV) feature a control display panel with switches for electronic valve operation. To ensure safe operation and adherence to predefined process sequences interlocks are installed on these switches facilitating controlled and secure valve operation.
General Philosophy of Operation:
- Operating Conditions: MOVs can be operated under two conditions: Local and Remote.
- Local Operation: The valve can be manually operated by the operator at the site.
- Remote Operation: Control room personnel can operate the valve remotely via electronic controls.
Interlocking Components for MOV
- Actuator Switch Interlock: Installed on the switch panel this interlock ensures that the switch can only be operated when both correct keys are inserted. One key remains trapped in the lock while the other is used for the switching operation. Once the switch is set the key is retrieved for further process continuation.
- Interlock on Gearbox: Optionally mounted on the gearbox to control access and operation.
- Interlock on Manual Override: Ensures safe operation of manual override functions in case of power failure.
Key Points :
- Safety: Interlocks ensure safe and controlled operation of MOV’s by minimizing the risk of accidents or errors.
- Process Adherence: Helps ensure that valve operations follow the predefined sequence maintaining process integrity and reliability.
- Customization: Interlocks can be customized to suit specific client requirements and mounted on different components as needed.
- Material: All interlocks are manufactured from high-quality Stainless Steel (SS 316).
