Electronic Key Cabinet System (EKCS)
The PEPL Electronic Key Cabinet System (EKCS) offers an advanced solution to ensure comprehensive control and management of operational key access during operations. It traps, controls, and releases keys upon receipt of a permissive signal from the signalling system when the predefined process conditions specified by the client are met. This enhances safety and operational efficiency.
Electronic Sequence Regulation Unit (ESRU): ESRU is designed to manage operational key in Mechanical SRU by employing electronic mechanisms to ensure comprehensive control and management of keys through trapping, controlling and releasing them in predefined sequence steps specified by the client for complex process operations such as pigging operations to enhance safety and operational efficiency. The trapped key is released for operation upon receipt of a permissive signal from the signalling system when the predefined process conditions such as safe operating pressure of the pig barrel as specified by the client are met.
EKCS Design and Features
- Trapping Mechanism: Securely traps keys within the cabinet until they are needed for maintenance operations.
- Controlled Release: Releases keys in a specific sequence determined by the client’s operational requirements ensuring orderly and safe maintenance procedures.
- Dedicated Key Positions: Each key position is dedicated and coded for specific valves or systems. Tag plates indicate the operational status of each key, whether in use, spare, or for maintenance.
- Key-Position Alignment: The cabinet’s key positions align precisely with the keys of each corresponding lock/system, eliminating the possibility of incorrect key insertion by operators.
- Visibility: Keys are visible through the toughened transparent glass door, maximizing visual access to all key and tag plates.
- Block Diagram (Optional): EKCS Can be supplied with a block diagram illustrating all sequences for easy reference.
- LCD Display (Optional): An integrated LCD display provides real-time information on the sequence and status of each key allowing operators to easily follow the defined maintenance process.
- Timer and Alarm System (Optional): A built-in timer monitors the duration of each key is in use. If a key remains out of the cabinet for longer than the predefined time an alarm is triggered to alert operators to potential issues such as malfunctioning equipment or a missing key.
- Remote Monitoring: offers remote monitoring capabilities allowing administrators to track key activity and manage access permissions from a centralized location.
- Security: Cabinet is equipped with a locking mechanism to prevent unauthorized access ensuring keys remain secure at all times.
- Tamper Proof: Equipped with a tamper-proof lock to resist sand, dirt and water ensuring durability and longevity.
- Mounting: Easily mountable on the wall in control rooms for convenient access and management. Can also be mounted near the system on an offshore platform.
- Construction: Available in Stainless Steel, Carbon Steel or alternative materials in various sizes and configurations to accommodate different numbers of keys as per end-user requirement which is suitable for industrial environments ensuring long-lasting performance and reliability.
